Product InformationExplore density and buoyancy with this fun demonstration, created by Pete Peterson. The cube blocks in this demo illustrate that density and specific gravity determinations are not dependant on size. Each plastic block consists of two halves of the same material held together by pegs. One set of plastic blocks float, while the other set sinks. The floating block will displace water equal to its weight. The sinking block will displace water equal to its volume. When one half of the floating block is placed in a container of water, what will happen when the other half of the same material is placed on top? Will it float or sink? The block combination in this set will still float. Includes instructions. Grades 7-12. Size of blocks: 15cm3. Tell a Friend about this item
