Clearly seen from any area of the classroom and large enough for small hands to manipulate, these magnetic cell parts are ideal for illustrating the differences between plant and animal cells. Developed by science teacher Catherine Skye, this blackboard demonstration allows you to change the animal cell into a plant cell by drawing on the cell wall, adding chloroplasts, and removing centrioles. You can also use the parts to identify the structures and functions of eukaryotic cells, compare and contrast the structures and functions of plant and animal cells, play Cell Bingo to review before an exam, or demonstrate other processes such as respiration and photosynthesis.
