Create a colorful rainbow using only a few drops of acid, base, and universal indicator. Students will observe how quickly solutes will "travel" when the tube is inverted and how slow they migrate when the tube is not disturbed. A great introduction to acids and bases, pH indicators, neutralization reactions, and migration of ions in solution, this large-scale demo will be hugely popular with your students.
