Use the Retelling Cubes to help children review what they know about a book or story. The images and words on the Image Cube help students organize the key components of a story: characters, setting, problem, events, solution, and main idea. The Tell-About Cube helps children personalize the story by relating their favorite parts, favorite characters, favorite illustrations, words they learned, why they liked or disliked the story, and what might happen next. Just toss a Retelling Cube and let the student who catches it retell the story using one of the panels on the cube.
A fun, interactive activity that challenges children to reflect on stories they listen to or read. Use the Retelling Cubes to set the purpose for reading, help children understand story structure, or to introduce and reinforce the key components of a story.
