Product Information

Use this “magic” wand to teach electrostatic propulsion and the repulsion of like charges. Developed by teacher Bruce Yeany, this device induces electrostatic charges when you rub rabbit fur over the wand and the static bands. The like charges keep the static band hovering above the wand — like magic. You can even walk around the room and the band will stay suspended above the outstretched wand. Students will love to try this demonstration themselves.
Includes a teacher’s guide. Grades 6–8. Size: 81.3cm L.

Hovers about 4-5 inches above the wand, however it does need to be a dry day. Rainy days is not good for demonstrating electricy

We ordered this item for resource teachers and were VERY disappointed with the ability of the wand. The ring barely moves out of the way of the wand sometimes and never really "floats" above the wand.
